Our national and majestic bird, the bald eagle, has always been a favorite subject of the sculptor, Ronadró. “Freedom” becomes his third completed eagle. Different from his previous sculptures as it is an outstanding example of quasi-contemporary fine art using the medium of bronze. When one see “Freedom” in its final art form, it becomes obvious that extreme care, attention to detail, patience, and time went into its completion. The magnificent patina represents many coats of hand applied acids to give it a marble appearance. This type of patina can only be applied after the rough bronze casting has been brought to a mirror finish. This normally requires twice as much time preparing the bronze for patination.
